It’s been over a decade since Chime’s Newly Diagnosed Weekend inaugural launch in 2007 and registrations have opened for its spring event to be held on 1st to 3rd March. This biannual event is aimed at families who have children recently diagnosed with a hearing loss.
An innovative, residential information event that brings together a team of experts who'll provide practical answers to any questions you have over the course of the weekend. There is an on-site creche for the children to play and make new friends while you spend time with the team.
All accommodation, meals, information pack and children's activities are provided by Chime; families attending contribute a nominal fee towards the delivery of the event’s schedule.
Hosted at the centrally located Midlands Park Hotel, HSE health professionals, and Chime services and support staff, along with guest speakers from our partner organisations, deliver an interesting and educational schedule for parents. From Cochlear Implants hearing technologies to LifeTech EduTech; from audiology services to communication supports, the event is dedicated to equipping families with the toolkit they need to navigate their child’s development, with deafness and hearing loss.
Each year, there is unparalleled support and encouragement shared by other families attending. New friendships are forged over the course of the weekend as each parent has an opportunity to question, laugh, vent, cry, and more, with others sharing the exact same a similar journey.
Previous weekends have been a great success and the feedback from families that have attended in the past is always extremely positive.
“Totally exceeded by expectations. I wasn’t really looking forward to the weekend if I am honest but I am going away armed with so much more information, practical strategies and a slightly better acceptance of the reality of my child’s hearing loss. Well done on organising such a good weekend”
“Vey helpful, supportive, informative, very well organised – I’m leaving more confident and not afraid of deafness and know she will be fine for the future with our help.”
“It went far beyond my expectations; I laughed, cried and really enjoyed myself.”
