Budget 2027- Call for Emergency Cost of Disability Payment of €400

Budget 2027- Call for Emergency Cost of Disability Payment of €400

Chime made a joint Budget 2027 submission with the National Disability Services Association (NDSA) for key priorities on fully resourcing the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People. In addition to calling for ensuring sustainable disability services and effective service reform, the NDSA also focused on tackling poverty and addressing the cost of disability, including an immediate Emergency Cost of Disability Payment of €400 and a permanent Cost of Disability Payment of at least €55 as a first step.

We were delighted to attend the Department of Social Protection's Pre-Budget 2027 Forum, where we joined stakeholders from across the not for profit sector to highlight the importance of investing in accessible services and supports for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people.

Thank you to Minister Dara Calleary and the Department for the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions as we work towards a more inclusive Ireland.
