What we do

We work in conjunction with local services to support your Deaf or Hard of Hearing child or young person who has additional needs, directly related to being Deaf. We provide short-term, team based input to support the local, referring service.

_How to

Access the service

If your child is between 0 - 17 Years then referrals can be made by clinicians from a Children's Disability Network Team, a Speech and Language Therapist, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist from a Primary Care Service.

If your young person is over 18, they can be referred by a Disability Manager.

You can download the referral pathway here.

_Your questions

Answered

  • All children’s referrals to the MDT must be made through a primary care clinician (Speech and Language Therapist, Psychologist or Occupational Therapist) or any member of a Children’s Disability Network Team. If you feel your child would benefit from a referral to our service, you should contact your local services to discuss this. You may also wish to engage with Chime’s Family Support Team for additional supports and advice.

  • Please contact us on 01 8175757 should you wish to discuss any potential referral to our service.

  • Referrals for individuals over the age of 18 can be made by a HSE Disability Manager.

  • The referral pathway requires that a child is referred by one of the clinical disciplines represented in our MDT, namely Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology or Occupational Therapy. Because our service is a national, tertiary level specialist service, any child requiring input from the MDT should also be linked with the local service appropriate to their needs, with this service referring on to the MDT if they feel they require specialist support.
